Sometimes it feels like life is screening a movie just for the sight of our eyes. The misty mornings with rays of sunshine, the birds singing in the forest, or the smell of grass when you open a window in the countryside.
These are the moments that feel like a secret between life and you. In a book called Women Living Deliciously by Florence Given, the author presents the idea that if you look for it, love actually is all around.
Wait.
My bad.
That is from the movie Love, Actually.
But the message of the book is similar. If you look for it, you realise that life is full of beauty waiting within our reach, and the only thing we have to do is look around us. I believe all of us know the moments I´m talking about.
When you´re waiting for a bus after a night out, there´s no one around, and you look up and see the stars. Or when you step out after a long day of lectures, and the wind caresses your face. Or when you're on your way to work, you pass a bakery, and the smell of buttery goodness goes up your nose.
But it´s not only the small moments in the city. The most cinematic views happen in nature. This is why so many people press on the importance of escaping into nature from time to time, because this is the place where you can feel present, unbothered and seen.
If you decide to change the angle and let your life be one big glamorous date, I guarantee that the mundanity of workdays will slowly disappear. Let´s put ourselves in some scenario, shall we?
You´re walking up a flight of stairs, holding a cup of coffee. Suddenly, you trip, but you manage to balance it out enough not to spill the drink. So you look at the "imaginary camera" and think, nice save, thanks. Be a bit of an egoist, and when the weather clears out the exact moment you´re getting out of the house, think, oh, for me? Awww, you didn´t have to do that!
Once, I saw a post with all the examples of how girls like to make their lives more whimsical, and it was truly genius. Here are some of my faves:
say "my lady" whenever you walk by a mirror
tell your dishes it´s bath time
when you drop something, or fuck something up, bow and say "and scene"
tell your pet not to answer the door for anyone when you leave the house
say "can you hold this please?" when you put your purse on an inanimate object
Life can be a cinematic masterpiece; you just have to make it one.
Love,
