The Frazzled English Woman's core

The trend of girls dressing up like Bridget Jones or Iris in The Holiday infiltrates TikTok and Instagram every autumn. Usually, the outfit consists of a skirt, thighs (because English weather isn´t very fond of nice outfits), a big coat, and a scarf. None of the things listed above match; they create a chaotic vibe, promising a lot of socially awkward situations, a feeling of being a failure, and a handsome British man with a sense of style. Yes, Hugh Grant, Jude Law, I´m talking to you. As a foreigner, you expect to see the movie unravelling before your eyes. And in my case, I do expect drunk Jude Law to appear on my doorstep and introduce me to his two lovely daughters. But the reality is different.

In Leicester, you won´t see frazzled English women; you´ll see a lot of tired students in sweatsuits. And if it´s nighttime, you´ll be hit with bold outfits, not leaving much space for imagination. I find it very inspiring. In the Czech Republic, many of us live by comments from our moms, who believe that if you don´t look like a model on the cover of VOGUE, you shall stay covered.

I´m unsure what the moms of Leicester girls told THEM, but we should all live by their example. Embrace your originality, don´t worry about society´s rules, and be a frazzled Leicester woman!

Love,
