Bubble tea overstimulation

Do you know the feeling of needing to grab a cup of something hot without any problems accompanying it? I know the feeling, but not how it feels when you manage to do so.

I was walking out of class when suddenly, it started raining. I ain´t made of sugar, but after the rain gained the intensity of a shower, I needed shelter. I stumbled into a Campus Centre Building, a huge building in the centre of De Montfort University Campus made for students socialising, and my eyes fell on a bubble tea booth. Why not treat myself for a change, I thought to myself. I pictured an aesthetic afternoon with rain drumming on the street with a hot bubble tea in my hand, relaxing on a sofa with my computer. However, that was before I went to order.

Capitalism can be nice, especially when you feel like going through all the options, but on that rainy afternoon, I craved simplicity. When I touched the ordering screen, I was hit with a ton of options. It took me a while to figure out the drink I wanted, but I happily put it in the basket afterwards. BOOM! I was hit with yet another ton of options. Do I want skimmed milk? How much sugar? 50% or 70% of ice? Regular cup? Whipped cream? I cared about one thing only: for my drink to be hot. Guess what? The hot option was sold out.

Never mind, I thought to myself. I will simply pick another drink that would have a hot option. But ALL the drinks had their hot version sold out. At this point, I was annoyed and wanted my drink, so I rushed through all the ice, sugar and milk details. Out of spite, I wrote to my order my name is Sam. I paid six pounds for this average cup of tea with milk and waited.

When I finally got it, I was getting ready to watch the rain that forced me to buy that overpriced, stressful drink in the first place and wait out the downpour. Guess what. It stopped raining.
