Grindin' away like a top-tier posh lad

How does it feel to be a foreigner in a British university? Is it like in the movies? You can bet! I live on campus, so everything is close by, and I get to walk around surrounded by other students hurrying to their classes. De Montfort University is mostly modern, so it doesn´t provide proper Hogwarts vibes, but apart from that, I do feel like I´m living a dream. Walking to the building basking in the sunshine (that won´t last a long time), watching rowers rowing on the river, buying scones in Tesco, and listening to the Beatles.

Students here pay £9000 per year, but as an Erasmus student, I only provide for myself. I can book an appointment with a psychologist or a career adviser, attend many events for free, have a personal tutor, access many sites thanks to my student ID, and much more. Lecturers here are more passionate, engaged, and eager to help. Back in Prague, they tell you to figure out stuff as you go, and here, they give you a guide for everything!

Thanks to all of that, I feel welcomed and at home. If I get lonely, I can join one of the many societies or socialising events the university provides.

Is studying in Great Britain hard? I wouldn´t say so. At least in my journalism major, the thing that matters the most is showing up and showing some interest. As far as you enjoy studying what you study, you have no problem because when you like the lectures, why won´t you attend them? The assignments are interesting, the lecturers are lovely, and I continue living my dream.
